As Yoetzet Halacha, Professor Price is authorized to advise women on the detailed practices governing taharat hamishpacha — the code of law relating to the physical marital relationship. On October 27, 2013, five U.S.-educated women were the first to receive certifications as “Yoatzot Halacha” having been certified by rabbinic authorities in Israel. The five were trained in these laws — as well as in gynecology, obstetrics, fertility, lactation, psychology, sexuality, family dynamics, and genetics. Nechama Price has been on faculty at Stern College in the Bible and Judaic Studies departments since 2004. Prior to that, she completed the Stern College Graduate Program for Advanced Talmud Studies, received her Masters in Jewish Education from Azrieli Graduate School, and Masters in Bible from Bernard Revel Graduate School. She is also a graduate of the inaugural class of the American branch of Nishmat’s Yoetzet Halacha Program. She is serving on behalf of the communities of Englewood, Livingston, Long Branch, Tenafly, and West Orange, NJ. Nechama is also the Director of Yeshiva University’s Graduate Program of Advanced Talmudic Studies. Nechama lives in Bergenfield, New Jersey with her husband and four children. She will be speaking to the Community on Friday Night, November 14th (following a paid-up dinner); and to the women only that Shabbat afternoon. Contact Nechama Price with your questions at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 201-888-6999. Please also read New Jersey Jewish News feature for more information.
